Philco 46-1226 Code 125 Phono Input Magnitude
#1

Hello - I'm new to the forum.  I'm working on restoring a Philco 46-1226 Code 125 Radio/Phono and console.  The Phono is beyond repairs.  I want to replace the phono with a newer cell phone wifi device to stream music into the phono input.  I read that you v=can connect the left and right wifi outputs together through 4.7K resistors.  Then go through a small coupling cap (maybe 1uF) to the top of a 100k pot.  Bottom of the pot to ground and use the wiper as the phono input.  I'm not really sure if this is the best technique. What is the typical 'maximum' signal strength of the phono input?  I'm not sure if I b=need to expect milli-volts or volts as the max input.  Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

As it turned out, I needed to use Left and Right with 220 ohm resistors, tied together and then going through a 1 uF cap.  I used a 0.01uF cap across the "phono" input and chassis ground.  That works pretty good.  Now I can play Alexa through the phono input and out of the newly repaired system.  I can also control the volume through my cell phone.   I also reworked the cabinet.   It was absolutely terrible shape - it had been left in a barn for many years.  I installed new antique cloth behind the wood grid.  Behind the cloth, I installed light bars that run off the speaker volume.  I can turn these lights on/off with a small remote.  So now, AM , SW and phono input all work (after the alignment).  Now my kids want me to rebuild them so I have two more in the garage (46-480 and 46-1226 code 122)  Icon_sad
