Best performing Philco Tombstone on SW
#1

Having had many 30s Philco Tombstones and cathedrals during the last 35 years I am Curious of others opinions. My best performing set all round was the 16 code 125/126. Would like to hear others opinions

Agree on the 16-125/126/127, which is the four band set with an RF amp as well as two stages of IF. I would rate the 116B (121) and 116X (122) up there with the four-band 16, as there are only minor differences between the two, chiefly the addition of long wave in the 116.

116x? not familiar with it, difference between it and the 116b?

Sorry, the 116X is a console so it is outside the scope of this discussion. (I should pay closer attention before I type.) Icon_redface

The 116X uses 6A3 output tubes and a slightly different tone control circuit. The 116B uses two 42 output tubes, like the 16.
