I acquired this E-200-C s/n 058432 a number of years ago knowing that someday I would need it. it is very clean inside and is only missing the knob on the frequency dial. As far as I know it was working when I bought it. It powers up, as far as the tubes are concerned, but where do I go from here. it was used by another radio collector when I bought it. I was told he removed the knob, preferring to turn the large dial instead for tuning. Should I replace anything to start with? I have a new test lead assembly. I downloaded a manual but  have never used a signal generator before. Any guidance is appreciated.
