Progress!  The entire chassis was disassembled to make things easier.  The audio unit and the IF unit have been rebuilt.  All capacitors re-stuffed and most of the wire replaced.  It's difficult to determine the original color for all of the wire so conventional colors were used where possible.  Wire with tracers was not available so solid colors were used or were marked for differentiation.  Replacing the crispy grid wires  in the variable band width IF transformers required disassembly. Interesting assembly!  I left the rest of the internal wires untouched.  Finally, some of the chassis is reassembled.
