Battery tube superheterodyne VEF B 306.

Battery tube superheterodyne VEF B 306. Latvia, the well-known factory VEF 1940. The receiver is all-wave, with three ranges - LW, MW and KW. It is assembled on three tube with a 2 volt glow and is intended for use in remote areas of Latvia, as well as in the Baltic and Scandinavian countries, where it was exported and where electricity was not yet available before the war. The beautiful and stylish case of the receiver imitates carbolite, but in fact it is made of ... wood. This is the technological paradox of the middle of the last century, when using more labor-intensive and old technologies using manual labor and more expensive materials imitated cheaper, but trendy carbolic receivers, the production technologies of which were not yet accessible to all firms.
