Starting a 46-480 restoration, general questions!
#1

Hello to everyone on the forum! This is my first post.

I recently acquired a really nice 46-480 off Craigslist. The radio was working pretty good when I arrived to pick it up, but I am planning on recapping and aligning it.

I've started scrounging around for information and still have a couple of questions before I get started. Here goes!

1. The first I.F. Amp tube (6SQ7GT) has a metallic shield surrounding it, right behind that is the Disc/Det. (6H6GT).The Disc/Det tube has two metal tabs sticking out from underneath it, is this also supposed to have a shield?
2. The schematic shows a 5 µF 50V capacitor acting as the "Disc. Bias", this is number 1 in my photograph. It appears to be a paper capacitor. As this value is proving hard for me to find, is alright to substitute an Electrolytic of equal value and working voltage so long as I observe circuit polarity? The actual schematic has the polarity labeled, but it threw me off when I discovered it looked like a paper and not an Electrolytic.
3. The capacitor labeled No. 2 in my pic is a .006 µF 1000V, I cannot reference this on the schematic. There's nothing I see with that high of a working voltage. Is it okay to replace this with a 630V axial film Capacitor?

I think that's all I have for right now. I appreciate any input or information the forum can share!

Thanks in advance,

Lawrence
