One irritating little amp - VM 557
#9

The VM amps were kinda weird, but as you say, they did work well until they didn't. I just got a bag full of new tube sockets and think on this amp, my best bet is to rip it out and redo start to finish and see what I get. The sockets are def bad, and could be some flaky carbon resistors, and yeah, those sand things gotta go. rest of the caps are discs. I know what you mean about those maggies. I have the guts from a couple Windsors? that are pretty cool. Had one since a kid from an old TV guy with the quad 6V6s. Found another more recently that was very clean, same tuner but the amp was a little different, still quad 6V6s. These are in a straight line where my older one are in a square. Electromagnetic speakers on both.

If I could find the place called "Somewhere", I could find "Anything" Icon_confused
