40-155 first look
#1

Intact. Even the back is there in good shape.

Usual dust and previous lazy/bad repair jobs. Looks like a couplet?? A few caps where someone just added a cap in parallel with the old cap rather than actually replace the part. A burned out resistor - 150 ohm 1 watt I think. Only one 1 watt in the unit so that must be it.

After a few hours work - I wish I was better at this - I have one 16mf electrolytic neatly hot glued to the chassis. The other just hanging in space as I’m not seeing a good attachment point. I think I can make a little U-bracket for it to rest on. The schematic says a 12 and a 16 mf, but with higher voltages today I think two 16 mf will work.

Replaced or heat shrinked some bad rubber wiring.
A few caps hiding under the tuning deck. I think if I carefully unhook that I can get to them?
Gradually replacing the other caps.

Nothing too awful YET

Today I rebuilt the bakelite block. The wax seemed not to want to melt, but eventually it all came out.

Also replaced the caps under the tuning deck, cleaned switches and tube sockets. While I wait for remaining capacitors and resistors I will rebuild the pilot lamp -
Cleaned and exercised the switches - they all seem to be functioning well.

The wiring for the lamp has just crumbled to dust. I’ve ordered some nylon washers.

I’ll need to order some rubber chassis mounts and buttons.

Finished the recapping, added a power cord. Fired it up with no tubes. No issues. Added tubes. Again fires up with no issues. Realized the 1232/7G7 tube is missing. Replacement on order.
