Phorum How-To #14: Attaching Files To Your Posts
#1

Let's talk about how you can attach image files to your posts.

Here's how to do it:

[Image: https://philcoradio.com/images/phorum/Ph...14_001.jpg]

As you are writing a Phorum post, you will notice an area below the text box where you are writing your post. It is called Attachments. Under that heading is a box bordered by broken lines which we will call the Attachments box. Within this box is the text Click or drop some files here to upload....

If you have File Explorer already open on your computer, it is easier to simply drag the file you wish to use from there to this box, which automatically copies and uploads the image file from your computer into our server. Alternatively, you may click the text and a File Explorer box will open as follows:

When you have found the image you want to attach, click or tap on the image to select it, and then click or tap the Open button.

Notice how the filename of your image now appears under the Attachments box, to the left. The attachment is therefore ready to be posted along with your new post.

At this point things should look like the image below. Click or tap the Post Reply button to make your post.

Don't forget to write something in the text box, where you compose your post. If you only attach a file without writing any accompanying text and click or tap the "Post Reply" button, the post will be rejected by the system.

If you have done everything correctly, your post will appear along with your image.

(Only a portion of the image above is shown for brevity. Your full image will display when you attach it.)

But wait - there's more!

There is also a way to make your attached image appear as do other images which are hosted by third parties.

Here's how to do it:

Having typed your message, click (tap) the Choose File button to the right of New Attachment. Select the image you wish to upload from your computer, the click the Add Attachment button.

Now, having done all that, you will notice another button at lower right - Insert Into Post.

To make the image appear just below your post, click at the end of the text you have typed and hit the Enter key twice.

Now click the Insert Into Post button.

Notice how some text appears in brackets - the word attachment followed by the equal sign and some numbers? This tells the system to insert your picture at that point.

You may place your attached image anywhere in the text of your post that you wish. In this example, if you like, you could put the image between the lines "This is a test" and "This is only a test". Just click or tap to the right of "This is a test", hit Enter twice to create space between those two lines, then insert your attached image at that point.

Click or tap the Post Reply button, and your post appears with a full-size attached image:

And that's all there is to it.

NOTICE: You are limited to five (5) attached images per post.
