I agree, a medium hard rubber square "dingus".

Grainger or McMaster-Carr may have a rubber product,
or you may have some thick gasket or weatherstrip, or
a leftover piece of auto door edge gasket,etc....
Garage door bottom weather seal. A piece cut from a rubber belt. Just typing out loud . . . .
