Philco 40-180: the radio plays!

Got the old beater fired up and playing pretty good now. It still needs to be aligned and tweaked a bit.

I had a number of problems with this set: replaced all electrolytic and paper caps, rebuilt the bakelite cap. The RF tube 1232 was supposed to have its grid connected to ground, but it wasn't. I had to take apart the volume and tone controls and clean them. I also rewound the oscillator coil, before it wasn't working at all. There were a few caps just laying in the chassis not connected to anything, so I had to figure out where to connect them. I also had to get a new 6J8G and an 84. Put in a lot of new wiring to replace the rubber coated wires that deteriorated.

The tone controls were eventually removed. The radio sounded better that way.
