Cracked bakelite foot post
#2

(10-01-2014, 09:29 PM)ODPILOT Wrote:  This cracked post is for a rubber "foot" that screws into the little metal insert you see in the photo.  This is a 53-1350 radio phonograph and is made from the bakelite material.  The little insert cannot be held by the cracked post.  Anyone have any suggestions for building up the post so it can hold on to the threaded insert?   I thought perhaps either using an epoxy type glue or perhaps some sort of fiberglass resin??  I tried wood glue, but it does not stick to the bakelite.    Thanks people.

Try Plast-aid multipurpose repair plastic.  You can even make parts and knobs with this stuff
