Finishing up my 41-280

The advise NOT to use Brasso on the strip was invaluable!  Amway metal cleaner was the ticket and rubbing vary lightly.  The black lettering was still good

Cut a strip of oak the width of the center of the brass strip and reformed it - didn't take much

The new face plate didn't have indents for the ends to fold into so it bulges out slightly by the strip.  Never see if I didn't know.
