Any IDea what this is???
#7

They aren't hugely valuable anymore, a few years back some were trying to pass the amplifier/power supply chassis off as Western Electric units but I think that the Japanese audiophools have caught on to that scam so the premium has dried up for them. That being said the amplifiers are very good, and the sound is decent for that era. On the other hand the circuitry is somewhat antiquated in the tuner chassis in that it uses type 26 tubes,(I think that Philco went to type 24s in 1929) but because of the microsycronous tuner arrangement they are quite selective and the dial tracks pretty accurately. Good to see any console with doors that has not been converted into a bar or china cabinet. They are extremely heavy, even but the standards of 1929-30, I think that Victor and Grigsby Grunow engineers must have been paid by the pound, be careful moving it around.
Happy New Year
