Yes, that piece is definitely missing from mine. Does anyone make a repro, or do I need to machine one myself?
#18

Also, what, then, is the purpose of the little free swinging bar?

hey Brenda
looks like turns on and off merc switch

Cartridge was mailed off to West-Tech today. Don't know what the turn around is on that, but hope I can find any other missing parts soon.

I've gotten the service packet for the M-7 phono from Steve. In going over that information, I see some of the parts that I need. I need to find the "spring" (that "T" shaped part on the switch assembly) that activates the mercury switch. Note the difference between my pics and Sam's, this part on mine mounts with the holes at an angle on the mount.

Also, I need to know what thickness of rubber or whatever I need to glue back on to the tone arm actuator arm (the one that is supposed to move the pawl), because even with the little rubber dimple on the pawl, it doesn't come anywhere near the actuator arm. Also, the manual says that this pawl is supposed to contact the mercury switch assembly to turn the switch off at the end of record play, but I can't see where it can contact the assembly at all, let alone be able to turn off the mercury switch.

Everything else seems to be pretty well functional. The idler wheel is intact, the only issue with it is a very small indentation where the capstan had been in contact with it for a long time. It's enough to make a sound as it goes by the capstan, but doesn't seem to affect the platter speed. The rubber is still quite pliable, and I suspect that this small dimple will work its way out of the idler with time and use.

Brenda
I looked at mine they are the same 50Y6 and 35L6
I looked at turn table in your first pic circled when arm comes to center it push's counter balance enough to click player off
the three idlers are rubber caps you can slide them up and off on wood dowels
