38-624
#1

I recently picked up a 37-610 cabinet that has a 38-624 chassis installed. I looked on Nostalgia Air for paperwork, and couldn't find anything. According to what I've been able to glean from Ron Ramirez' fine Philco website, the 37-624 and 38-624 may have been basically the the same chassis, just in different cabinets, though I'm probably wrong. Can anyone confirm? Can I use the schematic for the 37-624? Or does anyone have the 38-624 paperwork they could scan for me? Thanks for any help.

I got a good quality copy of the schematic and parts list for it from a fellow Philco Group member on Facebook. Apparently, this radio uses the 37-624 paperwork, as the chassis are the same. If anyone has any tips or more info on this set, it would be much appreciated.

Chuck would have the service info for a nominal fee, but I think the schematics are the same. If I don't forget, I'll look in my 1937-38 Philco service info tonight after work.

Just looked - yup, they use the same schematic so you're all set. Good luck. Please feel free to chronicle your work here.

Thanks Ron. It'll be a while before I get around to this one. Tackling my 604C is taking a bit longer than I planned- I had hoped to have that wrapped up by Thanksgiving, and here I am over a month later and still having issues. When I do get around to it, I will definitely chronicle it here.

I have other projects ahead of this one, but it has been in the back of my mind. I do know that a tabletop and console version were made of this model, with the tabletop being the "bullet" style, am I correct? It's currently installed in a 37-610 cabinet. While it does fit fine in the cabinet, and it's in good condition, I was thinking it might be nice to put the chassis back in an original cabinet that it was intended for. The speaker on this is an 8". Would this indicate it would have originally been in a tabletop cabinet? If so, what would be a comparable "bullet" cabinet this chassis would fit in, that would also accommodate the battery to run it, and would anyone have a cabinet they'd be willing to let go to a new home? Icon_smile. Also, I may eventually like to find a 37-610 chassis to put in this cabinet. Appreciate any information or help anyone has to offer.
