Philco 70 dial replacement
#1

Wondering if anyone can help me out here, in the middle of restoring a Philco 70 and removed the tuning cap as i needed to change out the grommets underneath, I removed the dial and lamp assembly to prepare to clean the tuning cap in my ultrasonic cleaner, I guess i should have took pictures of how the metal dial frame meets up with the spring loaded dial drive as now i cannot seem to get this together properly?  does the thin lip of the dial scale holder mesh between the washer at the end of the spring and the brass bushing?  or does it mesh with the spring itself?
anyone have any pics of this or a general step by step on putting the lamp holding bracket and dial holder back onto the tuning cap?   any help would be appreciated!    Thanks!

This thread might be helpful:

It has a pretty clear picture of how the friction drive meshes.

Thanks Nathan....but it doesn't really show if the dial bracket lip meshes between the spring loaded washer and the brass bushing,  i guess an underneath shot of the assembly would clearly show this.  My bad as i should have took pics before i took it apart.
If this is in fact true that the dial bracket lip meshes in between the spring loaded washer and brass bushing can anyone give me tips on how to pull the spring loaded washer back in order for the dial bracket lip to engage?
thanks!

You shouldn't have to do anything to push the spring back. You may need to partially loosen the machine screw that holds on the dial to get everything to fit together.

Here are some closeup pictures I just took of my Philco 90 dial:

Excellent! Thanks alot Nathan! really appreciate that! I see you changed your dial scale to a replica....what size are those screws fastening the dial scale to the bracket? I may need to do this as well as the original is cracked up quite abit. I emailed Mark oppat awhile back regarding a new dial scale and he never got back to me? I know renovated radios sells them but i read that light hardly shows through them?

Glad to help. Icon_smile

I used #4-40 x 1/4" 'pan head' machine screws (and star washer and nut) to replace the dial rivets. I ordered them from boltdepot.com - not sure if local hardware stores would carry something that small.

The replacement dial came from RadioDaze. I compared the overall appearance to the original in this thread:

As for passing enough light, here are a couple pictures of that dial in operation:
