Radio Identification Help Needed Please
#1

Hoping that someone can help to identify this radio. Thank you, bigdog
#2

Have you looked for labels and/or stickers on the chassis or the inside or underside of the cabinet?
#3

Hi, yes looked for identifying information none present, thanks bigdog

Bigdog, I've seen something like it, an Atwater-Kent. Can't be sure though. Maybe if you could provide the numbers printed on the tubes and total quantity of tubes, someone might be able to give more info. Joe

Hi Joe, will try to get the information on the tubes from the owner. Trying to help a friend find information on his radio. roughly what time period would this radio have been made in? Thanks, bigdog

Hi,

Are you sure it's a radio? Does it have any tubes and controls?

The reason I ask is because it looks to me like it is probably a speaker table. These seemed to be somewhat popular accessories in the late 1920s. Some, like yours, are rather fancy pieces of furniture. The table was designed to hold a typical table radio of the time plus it had a built-in speaker for the radio.

Hi, thank you for the reply. I am not sure about the tubes I have contacted my friend to find out about the tubes. It does look from the pictures like a nice piece of furniture. So am I clear on this that this is probably just a speaker table? So the radio would have sit on top of the piece and appears to be missing? Thank you, bigodg

One you have the number of tubes, and the numbers/designations of each (e.g. 37, 6SA7..), you can go to

http://www.grillecloth.com

and use their database search feature to try to find who made radios using that number of tubes and those specific tubes. Of course, substitutions may have occured (e.g 78 to replace 6D6). Is there any label or are there labels on teh tube sockets showing what tubes it should have?

I think this is just a speaker table. Look to see if the speaker has a name on it. This one loks fancier than most.
