Coranado 907
#1

As I mentioned in the Phinds thread not long ago I got one of these that was a bit knocked around in shipping, major issue was 1st IF can knocked off chassis, I am hoping it would be OK but if not how would I even go about finding a suitable replacement? It is marked at 455KC. Could I use one from another set or get one off a junker? How would I know part#.

Never had to deal with this one problem yet, been fortunate.

Hey Pablo,
>Never had to deal with this one problem
First time for everything!

If you can post a few pics of what you've got can probably determine whether or not the old one is reparable. There is a difference between the 1st and 2nd but other than that if you have one that matches the physical size/mounting and frequency (455 or 456kc are fine) your good to go! A lot of times the wires are color coded, Green = grid, Black =avc or gnd, Blue=plate, and Red= hv.

Well I even spelled Coronado wrong, but anyway, maybe something like this?

The chassis is still in cabinet, looks like it has bounced off the bolts.

You can see how it looks, kinda bounced off but not  sure if she works, need to go see my friend with Variac, and bring it up slow, should have my own.

Didn't notice I'm lisdexsic. Probably not the best choice as they are physically much smaller in stature and are made for circuit board mounting. I think you need to access the bottom of those style which could be a problem, the original both adjustments are on the top.

From looking at your pics methinks you'll be ok. You can measure the resistance of the 2 coils that are inside the can. If you follow the 4 wires that come out of the bottom of the can two of the wires should show about 30 ohms. Once you find two that show resistance check the other two they should show about the same resistance.

Thank you terry.

I am bringing this up to do an autopsy on after our show with a radio pal of mine in our club. I will check the readings and hopefully have some photos of a salvaged set.

Appreciate the input.
