38-1-116x? Interesting radio
#1

I was on the ARF and saw this Philco. It looks like it has the 38-116 chassis, 5 controls, but it looks to be in a 38-3-3PC cabinet. Anyone ever see this model?

It looks like the cabinet is correct, as the holes are proper, not modified for the chassis.

Just curious.

38-1-116XX "Adam"

As Mike F. (Indiana Radios) said in the ARF thread, it is SUPER rare. And as you stated in the same thread, $100 is indeed a steal for it, even with the incorrect phono!

Thanks Ron,

I wonder if it should be suggested to send information to Radio Museum, to at least get pictures of this radio documented? Especially since I saw no reference in your book or on line.

Um...how about suggesting that the seller submit photos to the Philco Radio Gallery??

Right you are Ron! Sometimes I need a slap upside the head to set me straight.

The original changer is missing, someone stuffed a black BSR cheapo changer from the 1970s in it's place, so it's not a complete bargain.

Hi Shawn1967 here, longtime listener first-time caller.

This is the radio-phonograph I purchased yesterday for $80. I can honestly say the cabinet is one of the most beautiful pieces of woodwork I've ever seen.

Naturally, I will provide whatever photos Ron needs to properly document this radio.

Kind of still trying to wrap my head around what I just purchased. I'm trying to figure where in the queue of restorations this will go.

I'm very excited about this purchase but very sore today after taking this radio out of my Honda CRV all by myself.

Here is a link to some Hi-Res pictures yesterday:

I will happily provide Ron with whatever pictures he would like of the radio.

Thank you in advance for your advice and support.
