another jcassity antenna topic
#1

I am doing some demo/resto work on my recently passed mother in laws camp down below our house.

its a single wide and i did some major work inside,, still going.

got board of nothing but my tools as music so i grabbed my hallicrafters S38-d and brought it down.

i had read that on my transistor Zenith Trans-oceanic manual about using the old twin lead tv antenna to get reception of things like LW, VHF1, VHF2 ect.

Being inside a structure thats basically surrounded by metal did not exactly have me motivated. but i wanted my talk radio shows.

i twisted the twin lead wires together and hooked them up to my random long wire A1 terminal input.

i was struck by how clean the sound is.  Nobody lives in the camp so the only thing on is utility power, no appliances are on and the only electronics running is my AA5 hallicrafters.

this analog tv antenna cant be much more than 15' off the ground.

I look forward to a power outage things get nice and quiet around here not much traffic on the road with people going to the store. Without all the stuff running, radio reception is like WOW. Plus I get to light a Coleman lantern and sit on the porch and enjoy the radio. David
