610 Needs Work
#1

Good Morning All-

I have a 610 that handed down to me that I would like to get working again.  It was purchased by my great-grandfather and was the first radio that the family had ever owned.  I don't know the exact time it was purchased, but I have been told in the 30's and after looking through the photo gallery, it looks like it may have been introduced in 1936, so the 30' time frame could be correct.  Overall, I think it is in great condition for its age.  My dad had a local guy look at it, but he is not a radio guy and didn't have any luck getting it to work.  I believe that he did replace the grill cloth.

I have been looking through the Phorum and believe that, with your help, I could possibly restore it to working order.  But, I have many other projects that I am working on and don't want this one to get put off as I know that my dad and some of our family members would love to see it working.  I have looked through Parts Resources by Parts & Services Offered thread, but really don't know where to start on finding someone to take a look at restoring it for me.  I think the case is in decent shape and think I would like to leave it in its original condition, so I need help getting in touch with someone that can take a look at the electronics.  I would love to find someone in the Southern Indiana area to take a look at this project as I would love to be able to deliver it myself.

Here are some pictures of the radio.  Any information that you could offer on it would be greatly appreciated.
