1930's Mystery Auburn radio Restore on YouTube
#1

I have a new series featuring an early 1930's Auburn radio. It is an ac/dc radio and sort of a mystery radio with no documentation.
if you have any information on this radio please leave a comment on the video.

Great video Buzz!

Over on ARF they think it's a Clarion 400 made by Transformer Corporation of America.

Egg provided a link to the schematic located in the Gernsback Service Manual:

It is so cool that the radio works the way it is.
Even though we all understand this paper box cap abd others will have to go.
But....it means upon the recap and alignment noother troubleshooting might be necessary.

People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.

Actually I think the Auburn name is referring to the Auburn Automobile company of Auburn, Indiana as during that time period Auburn was making home appliances as well besides automobiles, there's a thread on the AFCA Forums (Antique Fan Collectors Association, of which I'm a member) that makes mention of an Auburn Branded Pedestal Floor Fan from the 1930s that would of been around the same time period of this radio.

Nice Video By the way. What was the other radio that Miss Moose found in the trash?

Hey Buzz,
I am an avid watcher of your videos. In this video you talk about a person named Brendon or Brandon guru. Can you give me his website or you tube site.

Thanks

Nice work using that capacitor to drop the voltage and a very nice job getting that chassis all cleaned and polished Buzz Icon_thumbup

Below is a site that explains three methods of dropping voltage (resistor, diode-resistor, and capacitor) and has a spreadsheet you can download that will calculate the values for you:
