38-10 Escutcheon
#1

I have just begun restoration of a 38-10T and have been very impressed with the information that is on this site. This is my first PHILCO, after several Zeniths and various German sets. So, I’m looking forward to the 38-10 work, but would appreciate any pointers as to how to remove the escutcheon on the front of the dial glass. Part of it is slightly raised along one edge, but I can’t seem to get it to budge.

The cosmetic shape of the cabinet is pretty good on the top and sides, but unfortunately someone has previously tried to refinish the front, thereby removing the burl walnut photo finish. So, some creative work is needed later on.

Anyway, any pointers to get the escutcheon off without damaging it?

Thanks!

Welcome to the Phorum! I'm not familiar with that escutcheon, but someone will have the answers you need. Take care and BE HEALTHY! Gary

Welcome to the Phorum!
I believe you simply twist the outer trim ring counterclockwise to remove it.

Finally got it off. Thanks for the previous replies.  Yes, it did twist off, but one of the four locking tabs on the trim ring was bent and caused the assembly to lock up.
