New 37-116 Parts
#1

Not sure if this is the correct thread to ask this, but I'm looking for cosmetic resto parts for my 37-116 Deluxe - items like speaker grill fabric, new dial and some transfer lettering (vol, bass ,etc). I placed an order with Radio Daze almost 2 months ago. Have heard nothing - no one answers their phone or returns emails - I leave messages and still nothing. Are they even open anymore? Is there a better place to get these items?

Thanks in advance

No it is not the place, but it's OK, we will move it, possibly to "Philco Home Radios" (we often discuss this in there).
Meantime...they are open, but sometimes they do run delays. Have you written/called them?

Thanks for the relocation and sorry for the error.

Yes - have called and emailed 3-4x and no response. IIRC when you order from their site, there is a pop-up that states something about the items being made to order and you need to check mark the pop up to acknowledge you understand this. Ok - thats understandable and not a problem - I make custom suspension parts with the same issue, but know its a 2-4 week delay. I am in no immediate hurry (and have told them I am not twisting arms) but there has to be at least a ballpark idea of how long. 3 months? 6 months? 10 years? In this day and age, businesses close every day - when they do not even acknowledge it, after months of holding your money, I have to wonder if they are out of business and need to retrieve my payment.

Thanks again for moving this.

Has your card (or what have you for payments) been charged?

I emailed back and forth with someone this last fall about a dial I was interested in; they did answer fairly fast.

Yes, I would recommend Mike also. Has good selection, and overall great guy.

But he still needs the dial and the lettering.

I emailed Radio Daze last Thursday and got a reply back the next day. Their lead time is 4-7 weeks. I would image they are quite busy. They have that check box so people are not bugging them as to where is my order. So your order is past that time so I would hope any day now you get your order.

I could be wrong but I believe that they have the decal sets in stock for 1937-38 model year Philcos, I didn't know that they sold grille cloth, I'm not sure why there would be almost a two month lead time with a 37-116 dial, it's not really a custom item, and was used om more then one model. is there a difference between the dial used on the deluxe verses the standard version without the teledial?

Thanks fellas for the responses. I emailed and called them both 3-4x each, and each time telling them I was not twisting arms - vaguely remember the pop-ups stating something about delays - was just curious if they had a ballpark idea of time. I ask this so that I know when to look for it (in the event we will be out of town). Otherwise, no rush really.

And yes, they did charge my paypal, which I have plenty of time to cancel. Dont want to but when there is zero response in several tries in 2 months, one has to wonder if they are even open anymore.

I may try them again and if no response, set a date when to cancel. Communication is so vital to any business and so easy to do.

Thanks again.

I just saw a post on Facebook where someone is not getting a response from Radio Daze. I sure hope they have not gone out of business. Hopefully it is just a temp thing. Their web site is still up anyway.

Well, their answering machine says they check their messages every day at noon and respond by 3p the next day - I can say after trying 2 more times (email and answering machine) the last 10 days that they do not. Going to give it another week then file for a refund with paypal. Unless I hear different in the meantime, I will consider them closed.

They are not closed. I sent an email to them 3/8/2025 and got a reply back 3/10/2025. Since 3/8/2025 was a Saturday I didn't expect an answer back right away. They did mention things were a bit hectic. I had asked them to add another dial to my current order. I actually got a Pay Pal invoice for the additional dial from them on 3/9/2025 a Sunday. Must be in the office anyway.

Dan,

I'm curious, I saw the 38-2 dial you got from them. Are you getting a new, improved one from them without the white "outlining"?

I too am thinking about getting one and would like to see if they improved their process before ordering. So if you get a replacement, please post a picture of it.

It kind of looks like they print white and then the color on top but it doesn't get aligned quite right.

Thanks,
Greg

Hi Greg,

No I am not requesting a new one but maybe I should have since others will be buying it and may not like it. They did say they would be will to try again. I decided it is not quite so noticeable behind the glass with the pilot light(s) on although you can still see it close up. I would like to know if you decide to get one and if you do what you think of it.

Hello, Just another note on Radio Daze. Yesterday I received my order of dials and decals just a little over 6 weeks from when originally placed. This is in line with their 6-7 week wait time. So we can see they are still in business.

Dan
