Hello everyone,

Here’s a short video of a gramophone featured in an episode of The Repair Shop.
I have never seen one like this also neat to see it work after all those years .

Rich;
I have seen the episode with that set, there was also a table version without the record player. It's a post war G.E.C set, from 1947-48, no relation to U.S or Canadian General Electric, and impressive as it looks, disappointingly, only has five tubes. The pushbuttons are not for presets, that's the band switch, tone, and radio/phono selection. It's the same thinking that went into post war British TV sets, only had one channel on them, fix tuned, TV sets had no tuners until 1954, even the Soviets thought that TV sets needed a tuner. It's odd since they were very early adopters of nuclear power, even designing their own power plants, same with jet airliners.

Rich;
Here is the table version of that combo unit, it looks like they basically built a console cabinet around the table one. https://www.radiomuseum.org/r/general_el..._4750.html
