Very sad 116X
#16

I've seen worse cabinets restored, unfortunately I lack the woodworking skills and tools to pull off something like that. Still, I wouldn't condemn it just yet.

Nothing wrong with it at all! You will have a swell time with your 116X regardless of which direction your resto goes. Totally agree about the 6A3s, they definitely make for a superior sound. I would add the 6B4G to this very short list of superior output systems.

A recent eBbay auction had a Silvertone 1831 console radio. (below link) This set had Six 45 tubesfor the output circuit. I betcha this was some kind of good sounding set.

Really makes me want to get cracking on my 116X (and 37-116X). After a couple three years outside the hobby. You guys are causing me to dust off the tubes, polish the cabinet, dig out the tools.............................................. Icon_biggrin Icon_silent Icon_shh

Thanks Ron. Hope things are well with you. Trying to get back in the grove and send some needed attention to my beloved Philco's Icon_redface Work hours are longer now so more of my time is taken up. I see a good group of new collectors hanging around the Phorum Icon_clap
