Philco 48-200 help
#1

Low volume and garbles. Down to looking at Z300. Removed it and found Z300D and Z300C not in the can. R300 is in there and found 470K actually at 54K so I'll replace it, but what do I do with the missing caps? Should I put them in or leave as is. Funny thing is, it doesn't look like the I.F. can has ever been messed with, prior to my fat fingers intruding that is. Schematic at the following link....

I assume you mean C300C and C300D, both are 100 pF caps which, with R300, comprise the 10kHz audio "tweet" filter.

Strange they would be missing. Putting in new silver-mica types back in certainly won't hurt.

Be sure that 2nd. IF can has a part no. of 32-3952, according to the parts list. Maybe the set had an early repair/replacement in its llife and that can is same IF freq. but different part number.

Thanks for the info Chuck. Part # on the can is 32-3952. I'll go ahead and install them as you suggest.

Danny
