I don't know what make of radio that is, but it's definetely NOT a Philco!

I agree, doesn't look like any Philco I have seen but I really like that cabinet style. As for the grill cloth, I think we have some bed sheets in that pattern. Icon_lolno Jerry

I mostly like the cabinet too, and the grill cloth looks like something that was on my picinic table years ago. I was hoping to look at it this weekend. No make or model on the listing.

If it was me, and it was local and reasonable, I would buy it. Such a nice looking piece. I could send you a piece of better looking bed sheet for the grill!
No, I don't need another console! But if were local and reasonable, I could fall in love with it.

I think it may be a FADA, it looks like it may have a neon tuning bulb above the dial which some FADA models had, called a "Tunealight" or some such thing, plus the cabinet has a frilly look like an early 30s FADA. Too bad about the crappy refinish and the broken grill though.

Silvertone? I think I've seen knobs like that on one.

I think you are right Arran. I poked around and found this link to this radio. The cabinet is not the same buy the chassis face and knob arrangement look exactly the same. Now all I need is for the guy to get back to me. He doesn't seem too motivated. I will give him through the weekend. $50 seems fair as long as everything is inside.

I guess I had the name wrong, FADA called it a Flash-O-Graph not a Tune-A-Light, but really it's the same principle, a neon tube with a rising or falling light column. It would be neat if the bulb was still good, it was one of the forerunners of a Magic Eye tube, Sparton had a similar device called a Visoglow tube but it's display and mounting was more similar to a Magic Eye, but with a four pin socket.
One thing I hate about the Radio Museeeeum site is you can't view the schematics without a membership, they treat them like they a state secret. It would make sense if they were large factory issued folders but most look like they are copied and uploaded from a Rider's or an RCC manual which is often just a single page. If I have a schematic for a Canadian made set, and someone down South needs it, I will typically scan it and email it to them, I'm not going to try making a profit off it because I don't really own anything other then a copy.

I do believe the "tunealight" was a feature on MidWest radios. I restored one for a friend. Uses a couple different color incandescent bulbs and they light up when off or on station. Really kind of nice.
