Aww! What a cute wittle wadio!
#1

I picked this Philco 41-225 up at the AHRS today for $10. It's going to need a little work, a new cord and such.  The speaker's caved in, but the veener is very nice. A little GOJO and I'm sure it will clean up nicely. I blasted all the dust out of it with some canned air.

Took me a while. Widdle means urinating .....?

People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.

Or, ...

"widdle wadio" is Elmer Fudd-speak for "little radio".

This is the smallest Philco I have. Hence, it is a baby.

You know you could have bot that on Ebay for 100.00! That little set could look slick. Pushbuttons look OK and it has call letters too. It is the right size for about a wall full of say like 50 small Philcos. Good luck.

This thing's speaker is toast. Does anyone know the power and resistance for it and where I can get a new one? How much does reconing cost?

Well the original FC is 500 ohms which is pretty low. I suspect that's done so there isn't much voltage drop across it. What most later AC/DC set use is a 1000 to 1500 ohm resistor @ 5W. When don't have the FC in the circuit you will need to up the value of the filter caps. The FC provides some filtering the resistor not so much. So replace those with 47mfd @160v. This will give you a nice clean power supply.
As for the recone I'd guess about $45.

I see you got a local set it's got WSM on it.
Kirk, HaHa very funny!!!!!

The current electrolytics are a Cornell Dublier dual cap at 30 and 50 mfd and 150 volts.

Though It is a UK version, but it is also what I said.

Thought you did that with a pocket knife and a stick. Didn't know they did it in the UK.

The CD cap is replacement. Original was a dual 20mfd 150v.

English isnt so simple is it?  ; )

Nope. That is, simple enough but since we are separated by the common language that complicates things just a smidge.

Yea, it doesnt help with all the "slang" terms we all come up with either.
