38-C-12A coronation model value?
#1

Hello all. I'm new to this forum and have a question about model 38-C-12A. This was manufactured in Canada to commemorate the coronation of King George VI and his wife Elizabeth. I believe it to be fairly rare and was hoping some knowledgeable Philco collector might be able to give me an idea of value. I'm starting to get rid of some of my collection so I can focus my collecting in one particular area (whatever they eventually may be). The cabinet has been stripped except for the small area around the emblem, but looks to be in decent shape. It has the right period grille cloth but I don't believe it is original. I also think there is something missing around the dial but don't know what that might be. I'd appreciate any help you could provide.

Don't know about worth but the dial is normal. It did have a dark brown paint on the wood but when it was stripped it was removed. Add some brown the the edge and it will look original.

Terry

ps How's the cafe??

pss You may want to try to pull the dial pointer out a bit if possible they have a nasty habit of tearing the foil off of the dial. Grille cloth looks original.

Thanks Terry. I do plan on re-lacquering when I get a chance. I don't know about value either, but I only know of one other with the coronation logo. It may be rare, but not necessarily worth much. I appreciate your response.
