Worn phono/radio button
#1

Hello
My 46-1209 is having an issue with the phono/radio button. The radio will fade out until I play with the phone button then sound returns. Is there a repair for this or will the switch need to be replaced?

Thanks

I'd try cleaning the switch w/some contact cleaner.

When my pals were reading comic books
I was down in the basement in my dad's
workshop. Perusing his Sam's Photofoacts
Vol 1-50 admiring the old set and trying to
figure out what all those squiggly meant.
Circa 1966
Now I think I've got!

My first radio "restore" was a Philco 42-1013 around 40 years ago. The first thing I did was take apart all the buttons and clean the contacts with an eraser. It took me all day. It was my main radio for ten years after that. It's now in the queue for a proper restore. Probably have to clean the contacts again.

Ok Plan B
Inspect the switch for damage, broken contacts, broken wafer, ect. And go from there.
Plan C
There is a small possibility that the switch isn't the problem but is cause something else to
act up. To troubleshoot this a signal tracer is your best friend.

OBTW you might want to update your profile, as of a couple of yrs ago your city and
state were added as a must.
