Philco 44 Speaker Assembly
#1

Looking for a usable speaker assembly for a Philco model 44.  I haven't measured the voice coil yet.  The field coil and output transformer have proper DC resistance.  Entire cone ripped out...probably child damage...as-found.  Maybe this one can be re-coned?? Thanks in advance for any advise or suggestions.

Hi Dan -

It looks like you have a 44H? I just restored one of these myself. If so you may be interested in the pics: https://flic.kr/s/aHsmfoXsmN

If it is a 44H the original speaker is an H-14. You can find more info in the speakers.xls spreadsheet:
http://www.philcoradio.com/phorum/showth...hp?tid=215

The H-14 wasn't used in many models but the cone and voice coil are shared with many others including the much more common H-13.
It looks like the H-14 is nearly identical to the H-13 but with a different output transformer.

So maybe if you found a donor speaker for the voice coil it could be reconed that way? I haven't done such a swap myself but perhaps someone else can chime in who has (or who has tried).

Even easier would be to swap your output transformer onto an H-13 speaker.

Hey Nathan,

Great links!!!! Very helpful.  I should probably get better photos of the speaker...maybe the voice coil is still intact?  Someday one will show up.  Glad the Estes Auction is in my back yard.  One will turn up in a dollar junk box.  I hope.

Thanks again
