Westinghouse WR-184 Cap ?
#1

I have a Westinghouse WR-184 the print is here
http://www.nostalgiaair.org/pagesbymodel...024260.pdf

Getting ready to start the recap and my question is the cap across the incoming line (safety cap) on the print shows no value the actual cap in place is .1 @400v. Seems the value .1 seems is high to me, what do you all think? Use to seeing .01, .05. Not sure if this cap is original could go either way.
Thanks Eric

I believe that the mew maximum standard is .01. Even if it isn't, that is the largest cap X2 Y2 that I would use. There won't be any decrease in performance.

I use 0.01 uF pretty much everywhere. Quite enough. For both X and Y applications.

People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.

The "mew" maximum - that is the value that Fuzzy recommends - Mew, mew ,mew.

Anyway, they really don't make much difference for "line noise" but they do provide an RF ground.
