decals
#1

i havent used decals since the early sixties. i dont consider myself hamfisted or an uncoordinated oaf either. however i met my match trying to install ONE "philco" on the front of my 48-482. i had 4 shots one was damaged from the get go and the others i broke one by one trying to either slide them off the paper in one piece or maneuvering them into position. i dont remember if i got them from radio daze or not but they were about five years old. i MUST be doing something wrong. if this is the norm ill need hundreds to get the five need done. i can appreciate the need for them to be thin but these had zero strength. PLEASE enlighten me!

I always try to apply them on a wet horizontal surface, if possible, and if they don't slip easily off the backing paper, I'll soak them for a while longer.

But you are right: they seem to deteriorate after a few years, and break apart easily.

I agree, decals become more fragile as they get older. Order new ones, you will have better luck. Also, when installing them, use an artist paint brush to maneuver decal and remove excess water.
