Philco 38-7 dial lamp
#1

How do I get to the dial lamp in a Philco 38-7? I do not see any screws holding the brass bezel on. It looks like the brass bezel should turn and then come off; however, it just turns about a 1/4 inch an nothing.

The brass ring (glass cover) will pop out after a slight twist CCW. Pry up carefully.
Remove the snap ring around the circumference of the dial scale.
The dial pointer will pull off and is keyed for reference.
Next carefully pop out the dial scale allowing access to the no. 44 bulb.

Richard,
I just got back on the this site to check this posting. Thanks very much for your help. It's late right now; however, tomorrow I will get back to the radio.
The radio works find, except for this dial lamp.
The cabinet is almost complete and it will look much better when this dial lamp is replaced.
Once again, thank you very much for your help.

Another Philco fan chimed in before the forum changes lost it to say he found the posting helpful.

Decided to disable the mute circuit in mine. Removed wire going the volume control. The leaf contact that slides against with the brass disc in the dial assembly could not be made reliable.
