Philco 15X
#1

I just picked up a Philco 15X. Cabinet is in good shape. The top lacquer is peeling and dried out, not a problem really to fix. I will need to find an acceptable grill cloth because I doubt I can save the original.

What I need to know though is there suppose to be a shield on the back covering the tubes? If so, will I be able to listen to the radio once I go through the chassis without it? I will need a new dial scale, is the one Radio Daze has listed correct?

Thanks for now.

Yes, there should be a shield. you might get feedback without it.

You can see it on top of my 15DX.

I am just finishing up on a 15x chasis. yes it does have the shield, but for mine in a strong station area I hear no intreferance with or without.. Dont give up ..see what you get after restoration. Good luck..it's a nice sounding dual speaker receiver.

Thanks for the info. If I cannot find a shield and I do need one, I may try to fashion a crude shield out of tin until I can find an original. If anyone has a few pictures of theirs, they could send I would appreciate it.

Thanks
