Thanks for the advice on changing the silicon diode to germanium.  I'll pick up one today and install it.  I am truly a novice at this hobby.  I can read a schematic, and have a basic understanding of components and their functions, but don't have a command of the subtle intricacies involved.  Thankfully I have the means to question those who do through this forum.  Take care, Gary

Hello, I'm new here and I realize this is a very old thread, but I was hoping you could tell what part you used to replace the old rectifier and how well it worked. I have a NRI Model 69 that is wired the same as your Triplett Model 2413. Thanks

I ended up getting a germanium diode 1N34A, the only one of the two mentioned earlier that I could find. It seems to be working just fine now.
