Where to begin on Gram's 48--1270??
#1

Ok, it's beat up, but I love it. I grew up pushing the buttons on the radio that never worked. Now that Gram is in assisted living and the house is being cleaned out, I have the Philco! Oh, before I forget, Grandpa was an avid train collector who had a whole train layout on the third floor of the house (right through the walls!). At some point, long before me, he took the turntable off the phonograph and used it for his roundhouse on the layout, never to be seen again!!

Well, now what? My brother and I plugged it into an extension cord and then into the wall (the old plug is falling apart) and it did light up and crackle a bit, but that's it. The phonograph motor works, too. If I remove the radio chassis and blow it out with compressed air, how do I know if the capacitors, tubes, etc. are good or bad? Anyone in Massachusetts or Rhode Island willing to help?

Thanks, Chris.
