I know which one you're thinking about buying... Icon_wink

I was going to bid on it myself, but meh, I don't really have room for it. So, good luck to you. Bid early and bid often. Icon_smile

If your HHR's back seats are removable or can be folded down, you can probably get the thing inside there.

Anything else I need to know before I pickup the radio how is the chassis is held in And the best way haul it?
I will have a lot more questions when I start working on it.

What ever the answer is to that question, always remember that the last guy that worked on it probably did not put all of the mounting hardware back. Many chassis are loose - and should not be. Check before you move it.

And, don't drag the radio back down over the car's carpet. It is a good way to remove veneer.

Ron

Your right about which radio it was to bad 5 knobs are missing and one wrong tube shield and one missing but the grill cloth looks Fair.

Vinzer, congratulations! Icon_clap Icon_thumbup You bought that set cheap, really. The location and "pickup only" hurt the bidding, as did the lack of knobs, I think.

Phlogiston is correct - don't drag that cabinet back down across your HHR's carpet. Been there, done that, lost the veneer to prove it. Icon_redface Remove the chassis, lay a good thick blanket down in the HHR and then lay the cabinet face down in your vehicle for the ride home.

Oh, and by the way - the oddball tube shield in the RF unit is not the correct one, but isn't far from the original as the original was aluminum with a flange on top, cut out for the grid cap wire. Don't ask me why they used one aluminum tube shield, but they did. Every 38-116 I've ever seen had that oddball tube shield.

I've been thinking that if I ever decided to get another 38-116, that it would be one with the "Ten Millionth" replica tag. But since Kutztown is only a couple days away, plus really no room for more consoles (and I've already made a deal to bring a console home from K-town, not a 38-116 though)...Just be sure and share lots of photos of your new prize with us! The listing has ended, so here it is:

I bet that aluminum tube shield will hard to find.
Idon't know about pictures I have never done that but will try to.
I wonder how this will come pair to my sparton 1466 it has a 12" and two 5" speakers and variable if band with.

Thanks for info on hauling.
Do I just pull of tuning knobs to remove chassis and any mounting screws?

Thanks

Looks like they also used a square shield for the RF stage. Here is a photo from another ebay listing:
