Phive dollar Philco
#1

Hey guys,
Haven't been on here much lately. busy caring for my mom and I had to replace my car, so not a lot of spare cash or time. I acquired this Philco 645 this morning, I wasn't even looking for anything! a Co-worker left me a message on my work phone, he was at an auction and this came up. No one bid on it so he started at $5 and he got it for $5, and sold it to me for $5!! Apart from its missing all but one of its tubes, not a bad set for the money. Some veneer issues but nothing I can't fix. Here are some pics.

I would not have a problem buying that for $5.  My wife would but I wouldn't!  Then again, maybe I WOULD have a problem!

The Philco six phorty phive transphormer  is worth phive dollars if it isn't phried. I see what Silverstreak means about veneer problems, the top of the left side side is lifting quite a bit, and the bottom of the right is chipped and coming apart.

I want coworkers like yours!

It's not how bad you mess up, it's how well you can recover.

Congratulations on getting such a nice radio for $5.00.  Tube replacement shouldn't be much of a problem.  That's a pretty nice co-worker to think of you.

Keep us all informed when you start working on it.

I redid one of those a couple of years ago for a friend, had worse veneer problems than this one. It sounded great when finished.
