Philco 70 speaker
#1

Been away for a while. Started work on early 70. Did the usual. Speaker tests ok. Here’s my problem- speaker has green, yellow(maybe tan), and black with red tracer- no plug. Found plug but not sure of hookup of wires in plug. Thanks in advance

Unfortunately I don't think that the schematic shows the color code or the pin out of the plug. It's a matter of sorting connections via the schematic and the speaker. https://philcoradio.com/library/download...l.%201.pdf  This is for the early model of the model 70.

Thanks. On the schematic the symbol for plug hookup shows a small circle- this one I believe I have correct. The other two circles appear same size- does that mean the other two wires can go to either pin?

Perhaps this will help. The pin numbers on the chassis socket and plug don't matter but they do need to be connected to the proper parts inside the chassis. Trace out where the connection that go on the chassis socket and wire the plug accordingly.
The schematic is a little confusing as they drew the screen and supresser grid switch around.

I.     Thanks for diagram. It helped. Next issue- I now have a steady hum. Tone control changes tone of hum, volume control does nothing. I noticed that the two electrolytics were in place- first one still hooked up- 2nd one was a 20 uf instead of 6uf. I replaced the first with a 10 and the second with a 22. I included photo of speaker wiring- hopefully got it right. Good magnetic pull on speaker.
