Hi my name is Brian and I'm interested in a Philco 48-1290. What is your opinion of that console radio and record player? Thank you in advance.

That wasn't a cheap console.
Has to be good. This saidd, myself I decided that from that year I'd look for 48-1276 or 1278. People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.

The 1276 is beautiful! I didn't see a picture of the 1278.

1274. https://philcoradio.com/gallery2/1948a/#Model_48-1274 1274 and 1276 are the same radio, the 1276 using a bit more expensive cabinet. People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.
