Philco Model 84 - Bad Transformer?
#1

I have a Model 84 and I think the transformer bad ... I going to check the current as suggested, but if it is bad (and I really think it is) what are my options?

Does anyone sell new, used or re-wired transformers for old radios? How much $$$ do you think it's going to cost? How hard is it to re-wire myself, and is any on-line help or information on the topic?

Thanks
Brian

Hi Brian and welcome to the Phorum
It's probably best to start a new topic (thread) for your question as it could be easily confused with the current one. Happy to answer your question there.

figure out what all those squiggly meant.

I split the two posts above from the original topic. Since this is a question about a different model, it does need to be in its own separate topic. Now it is Icon_smile

Hi,

The Transformer run very hot, and starts to boil (bubbling sound) at about ~35V.

I haven't had a chance to check the current yet, but I've ohmed out the wiring, and I didn't find any shorts.

Thanks,
Brian
