MORE Phonograph Woes
#1

Anyone know where I can go to find a needle cartridge for a 1946 Philco D-10A phonograph? FYI it is mounted in a Philco 46-1209.

If that unit uses a Piezoelectric, Rochelle Salt, crystal cartridge, like my 76A/46-1201, then the cartridge may also be stone cold dead.

West-Tech told me they were very hard to come by.....

You would pretty much have to substitute it with a more modern cartridge, or rebuild the old one, unless it is one of those magnetic types. This is part of the hold up with my Bing Crosby, that and a wonky mercury switch.

I have a 47-1230 D-10A phonograph with Dynamic cartridge. If it takes the same needle, which it sounds like it does, I contacted this ebay seller and he sold me this needle... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vtg-NOS-Philco-D...0899675089 . He might have another if you want to contact him on ebay. Warren
