Hello, again !
I just picked up a nice Model 18 with the original back still on it...It is different than the 18x shown on Philcoradio.com, though. The main difference is that it has 2 of the lyre inlays.. One at the top of each of the fluted trim pieces, instead of the single centered one...What other differences are there between the 18 and 18x? I don't know if it works or not,but for $20, I don't really much care.It's pretty nice cosmetically.I haven't had a free minute to throw it on the variac or get photos as of yet, but I will try in this coming week.

This, too, is an 18X. Very nice set, and you managed to acquire it at a bargain-basement price. Looking forward to the photos! Icon_smile

No... it's like the ones on the 1935 (fall 1934) page... They use the same photo for the 18x, 49x, 118x, and 144x. but like the 1933 model you showed me, it has the lyres atop each fluted side trim. The inside label tags it as a Model 18... not 18x... The place I got this one also has another pretty rough Philco R/P Console with a missing label.... It has almost the same face as my 41-250, but the dial scale has more printing on it, and it has the more rectangular push buttons. It has a low speaker, and mid pull out phonograph. On either side of the phonograph, there are large rectangular openings that look like record storage pockets missing the doors.. It was very crowded in, and I couldn't get a very good look at it. I could snap it up real cheap... but I don't know what I would do with it. I don't really want any more basket cases....

It's my website, and I put the photos there since according to Philco Furniture History, those four models used the same cabinet. I really don't like using those poor quality illustrations, but I depend on other folks such as you to furnish better quality photographs. So...I'm hoping you would be willing to share photos for the Gallery. Icon_smile

Oh yes, it's an 18X. It will not say 18X inside. It will only say "CHASSIS TYPE 18" on the back of the chassis, and "PHILCO MODEL 18" on the tube layout sticker. But if it is like this one:

but with two lyres instead of one, it's still an 18X.

Regardless if it's a 1933 or 1935 model, it was still a bargain.
